Newly remodeled after a $63 million dollar renovation, the Altria theater re-opened its doors late in 2014, simultaneously providing a space that is at once new to Richmond and also rich with Richmond history.
At the southwest corner of Monroe Park, the Altria - formerly known as The Mosque and The Landmark - is the largest venue of Richmond CenterStage's performing arts complex. The theater was constructed in 1926 to be used by the Shriners as the ACCA Temple Shrine; it was purchased in the 1940s by the city and refurbished between 1994 and 1995. Most recently it has seen an enormous renovation, that involved gutting nearly everything while strictly preserving the original Moorish revival style with the original accents, Moroccan-themed wall and floor tiles and original stenciling.
The ballroom, which features new light fixtures, acoustic curtains, and a dedicated bar and restaurant, is geared toward private catering events such as weddings, galas, screenings and events. The ballroom can host burlesque shows, movie screenings, and local and national music acts. Parties booked in the ballroom include holiday parties featuring Cirque de Soleil, formals such as the Mayor's Ball, proms, art shows, and other galas for fundraisers and fancy hat parties.
The Altria ballroom is 15,000 sq ft (150 ft x 100ft) grand ballroom with a capacity of 2500 guests standing or 950 seated. The Altria can also host events for as few as 25 guests in its 5 private lounges, and for up to 3,600 guests in its theater (click here to see pictures of the theater). The Altria has 8 concession stands where food and beverage can be served to guests.
The ballroom is highly flexible: the acoustic drapery can be brought in to bring the illusion of a smaller space if requested. Rentals include tables, chairs, basic linens, table numbers, basic centerpieces, event staff, and an on-site supervisor.
Add-ons they can provide include parking in a nearby lot at $7/per car, lighting, sound, production and valet service.
Any florist, planner or bakery can be used, however people can not bring in their own food and beverage. SAVOR is the caterer for the Altria.
The ballroom and lounges are dog friendly; the Altria has hosted events for the Richmond SPCA.
Send a party inquiry through PartyRVA and receive a free champagne toast for up to 100 people.

"The ballroom was restored to its once glorious state and will definitely be a focal point for those shows that require banquets or reception parties." - Rgdaguanno, Yelp
