Why We Love It

ComedySportz is comedy played as a sport. But whether or not it is actually about any sports is up to you!

ComedySportz Richmond has been making Richmonders laugh since 1996. Their troop has won "Best Local Comedy Group" by Style Weekly Magazine 4 times, and has won "Best Comedy Club" and "Best Performing Arts Company" awards from Virginia Living Magazine from 2012-2015.

Groups can come to their location at 8906 West Broad Street, or ComedySportz can come to another location for a private performance anywhere in Virginia.

ComedySportz Richmond offers a wide variety of private events. Their signature event is a competitive improv match that declares a winner through last person standing. The tone can be naughty or nice, as the Brown Bag Foul keeps it clean for all ages and environments. Events run the gamut from from limited to complete audience participation.

Corporate Events

  • ComedySportz - Competitive improv match with a referee and an announcer. Whether it's last person standing, or audience voting for points, there will be a winner of the improv match.
  • Corporate Training - Led by nationally certified Applied Improvisation instructors, CSz Richmond offers multiple interactive corporate workshops that focus on one or more of these skills: teamwork, communication (verbals and non-verbal), presentation skills, collaboration, stress management, risk taking and customer service. The focus is less on comedy and more on the benefits of the team interaction.

Private Performances

  • ComedySportz - Their signature competitive improv comedy match.
  • Custom Christmas Carol - A hilarious version of the Dickens Classic where group members play key roles.
  • Mock Trial Comedy Roast - A mock trial for something ridiculous, roasting someone important.
  • This is Your Life - For retirees or special occasions, this show is all about them.
  • Outside Boxers - A bit edgier non-competitive performance. Imagine madlibs filled out with naughty words, come to life.
