Why We Love It

Richmond's impressive cuisine scene has been the subject of international attention - Saveur magazine recently named Richmond, "The Next Great American Food City," and U.S. News and World Report ranked Richmond as one of the, "8 Under-The-Radar Foodie Cities." Richmond is one of only two American cities to make the list. Recently, Richmond's vibrant food scene has been lauded by Esquire, Food & Wine, The New York Times and the list goes on.

Real Richmond Food Tours unlocks the ins and outs of Richmond's culinary composition. Each tour takes guests on a two-and-a-half-hour walk through one of Richmond's colorful neighborhoods, stopping at several local eateries. Tours meet chefs or owners and get insider information about the restaurant scene, while the guides share their knowledge about Richmond's impressive architecture, history and current events.

Corporate groups can explore foodie neighborhoods such as Shockoe Bottom, Church Hill, Carytown, Jackson Ward, the Fan, Manchester, Scott's Addition or Libbie/Grove. After a food tour, guests will leave with an appreciation of what the neighborhood has to offer, how local food and wine purveyors contribute to its vibrancy and what the culinary community brings to the table.

Real Richmond Food Tour's founders Maureen Egan and Susan Winiecki have been leading tours for residents, businesses and visitors to Richmond since 2010. Winiecki is the Associate Publisher of Richmond Magazine (not affiliated with Real Richmond Food Tours) and Egan is the author of Insider's Guide to Richmond, VA. The four-day culinary event they produce, Fire, Flour & Fork, was one of Richmond.com's, "Top Events of 2014." With this much insider knowledge and experience, a tour with Real Richmond is sure to unearth hidden gems and fascinating history.

Testimonials

"This was a great Saturday well spent!!! This tour included 5 stops... And they all were great!! If you want to try something new I definitely recommend it. It's definitely ideal to not eat before the tour because after the 3rd stop I was full...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And the portions are hearty, not finger foods on this tour. I can't wait to go back and try another area in Richmond." - Maria C., Yelp

"The food was all delicious and filling, the scenery was beautiful, and I learned a lot about the historic people, places, and culture of Richmond. I will be taking one of the other tours within the next month or two - bravo! It was awesome to feel like I was vacationing in my own city! Now I can't wait to try out a full meal at one of these awesome restaurants that I would have never even heard of without having attended the tour." - Kim R., TripAdvisor.com
