Plan your best group event in Richmond, VA
Through storytelling, good food and group bonding, Richmond Rides offers innovative bike tours in Richmond. Guides are passionate about the history of Richmond from Captain Christopher Newport rowing down the James with Native American guides to how the food scene has evolved in Church Hill. Trips stop at local businesses for wine, cider and/or food tasting. Headset walkie-talkies are given to each participant to hear about Richmond's history and to talk to one another on the go.
Richmond Rides believes that a bike is “the best way to experience Richmond." Bike trips are active, leave participants feeling energized and are more flexible than bus trips. Catherine, the owner, lives in Church Hill and has been featured on NPR in news segments about bike-pools and biking as a main form of transportation.
Participants can bring their own bike or, if preferred, can use one of Richmond Ride's bikes for the tour. Tours can range from two to five hours with stops and can be customized to focus on food, history, architecture, and flora and fauna of Richmond. Visits can include Libby Hill Park, Chimborazo Park, Jefferson Park and Union Hill neighborhood. Riders can also visit any number of Church Hill's food gems along the route including Metzger Bar, Roosevelt, Sub Rosa and Dutch and Company. Add-ons include food, wine or cider tasting, which can be ordered ahead of time from a menu through Richmond Rides. Tours are rain or shine and in the case of rain ponchos are provided; electronic headsets are waterproof. Tours can be cancelled up to three days ahead of a scheduled tour. The maximum tour size is 20 people and the minimum age is eight-years-old, although kids must bring their own bike. Groups typically meet at WPA Bakery at the corner of 27th and Marshall in Church Hill.
