Plan your best group event in Richmond, VA
The historic John Marshall hotel has been a presence in Richmond since 1929; the building was considered the "Finest Hotel in the South", hosting guests that included Elvis Presley and Elizabeth Taylor. Today the hotel has become luxury apartments after a 2005 $70 million remodel restoring the lobby and building to the original 1930's appearance.
Original Terrazzo flooring, the vintage rooftop marquee, an enormous palladium window, marble staircases, and marble bars characterize the classic "Richmond feel" of the building and lobby, combining old school Hollywood glamour and Southern charm. The venue has repeatedly been named "Best Large Venue" and "Best Caterer" by Richmond Magazine readers.
The Virginia Ballroom, one of two ballrooms at the John Marshall, features a wrap-around mezzanine balcony that leads into the main floor from a split staircase for a grand entrance. "Thank you so much for all your help to make our event on Thursday night a success! All the feedback I received was excellent! My CEO said it was, in his opinion, the best UMS function we've ever thrown. He said the food was superb, the ambiance was charming, the staff was wonderful! All the guests loved the food and the venue. So thank you! It was a fantastic event!" - Alison, UMS 6.8.16
"A quick note and tell you how pleased we were with every aspect of the reception, the facility and the staff. The ballroom was stunning (pictures are unbelievable), very comfortable and perfectly laid out for having a lot of fun. I will forever be a fan of the John Marshall! Please pass our appreciation on to all of the staff that made this evening so absolutely wonderful and thank you Amy for all you did to make it possible." Mary Lou 4.25.16
"A belated note of thanks to you and the John Marshall team for your wonderful support in hosting the ASK 40th Anniversary Celebration! I've wanted to let you know how grateful we are. Our guests absolutely loved the venue and flow from the ballrooms – one guest said they were married there 20 years ago and hadn't been back, so they enjoyed reminiscing. The spirit and buzz of the crowd was truly amazing, and I attribute that to the JM's setting."
"To say the night was a success would be an understatement. We raised Double what our auction normally sees to support ASK's kids and families which comes at a critical time as the fall was a tough one. The ASK Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic at the Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU averages 1-2 diagnoses a week but we saw 2-3 children being diagnosed, The event's proceeds will go the distance in helping to make life better for these kids and their families." - ASK Childhood Cancer Found. 3.19.2016
